Laughter: Medicine for the Soul!

Laughter: Medicine for the Soul!

Posted by The Sweetums Squad! on Nov 21st 2019

These last few weeks have been just utter insanity. Actually, these last few months have been! The Fall and Winter seasons are by far our busiest time of year with markets, festivals, holiday orders, fall sports, and all the other things our team dabbles in! There are moments when we look at each other and just shake our heads because we don’t know which direction we are going in and who is coming or going! Do you ever feel like that in your own business, or better yet, your life in general?

One of the words we listed in our 30 Days of Gratitude Challenge was LAUGHTER. The words in the gratitude challenge are given to make us think and reflect on the good in the messy and stressful times. How timely it was for me to open up my gratitude challenge and see Laughter listed for tomorrow, the day of our Holiday Open House that we have been prepping for, for weeks. The anxious feelings we have for the upcoming weekend are a little out of control. Will we have enough stock? Will anyone come to shop? Are we giving our customers what they want to see? Did we market the event thoroughly enough? Will the weekend go smoothly? Honestly, there hasn’t been a ton of laughter going on in the shop, and way more face palms! Can you relate?

Once the event starts, of course all of these anxious feelings go away, and we just focus on enjoying the guests who attend and mingle with new and old friends! The room fills with laughter and smiles, and quickly nothing else matters! This made me think a little bit….and laugh a lot!  If we focused more on always laughing, things would never seem or feel as suffocating as they do! Laughter is medicine for the soul in all circumstances, good and bad. Seasons of life change and with each season brings new challenges and stresses, but laughter always stays constant. We are grateful for the gift of laughter and the release it gives the heart and mind in times of stress! What does laughter mean to you in this season of life?
