Going Back to the Basics! Hey Sweetums Squad - We’re Back with all the things!

There is a difference between change and growth, and knowing which you need can be a game changer for both your personal and business development. Over the last 5 months my team and I have gone through a period of change, but we’ve grown together and focused our efforts on developing innovative ideas to keep flourishing our Sweetums Community.
You see, Change often means a turn-around of some sort. Change typically happens suddenly and it’s relatively self-contained in many ways. Knowing HOW to change and what to do WITH change is important in knowing how to manage it effectively. Growth is completely different. Growth takes time, conscious effort, consistency, and steady movement in one direction. Growth needs motivation. Growth happens because you choose it, requiring energy, support, and in most cases, encouragement. Growth is where the magic happens!
I have known I wanted to take our business in a different direction for a long time. I wanted to grow, to add more value to our already established Brand was always my end goal! You see, I am a dreamer. An idea girl. I believe that when you get an idea in your head, it’s a nudge from God giving you the go ahead to roll with it, quietly saying “Ok, here are the tools, now let’s get this party started”! BUT, I just couldn’t put my finger on WHAT exactly I was to be “rolling with” just yet. Then it hit me! Sweetums would launch engraving services; and so began the long, tedious, super frustrating, yet amazingly rewarding process of mastering the art of the Thunder Laser

I felt like I was the new girl again and quickly realized my 12 years of experience in this business didn’t mean a gosh darn thing. I was completely out of my element and challenged beyond explanation. I spent thousands of dollars on this machine and it was just sitting there, costing me money. The ideas in my head were not coming through like I thought they would and I felt anxious, frustrated and honestly, incredibly defeated. What did I get myself into? I was in way over my head this time. Growth - screw growth! I was sending this machine back and moving on.
Ok, obviously I didn’t, but, guess what I did instead? I went back to the basics. I built this business 12 years ago on a dream. I worked the business alone, and I worked my ass off. I taught myself everything. I learned. I failed. I started again and then I perfected! So, I decided to begin that entire process all over again with this engraver. I put fear aside. I hushed the anxiety and allowed myself to just be creative. I gave myself grace and slowly built a solid foundation from my vision, and finally, my first piece was crafted and I couldn’t be more excited to share it with you! Taking it back to the basics of what is most important to me - Home. We’ve grown so much as a team and a business in these last 5 months, and I hope and pray you are able to find value in going back to the basics to strengthen your foundation somewhere in your life. Cheers!
