Every 2 minutes, a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer in the US. That statistic really struck a chord with me. Two minutes comes and goes in the blink of an eye, it seems, but in a moment like that, hearing the words “you have breast cancer”, I am certain time stands still, and all you can do is think, question, wonder, and relive that moment over and over.

In October, we celebrate those women who have fought and won, and we honor those women who have fought and lost. Each year it is estimated that over 220,000 women in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer and more than 40,000 of them will die from the disease. Again, I am stunned by those numbers.

The mission behind the Breast Cancer Awareness Movement is to promote education, share early detection tips and tests and to offer support services to women in need. We have all in some way been impacted by this disease. We know someone who has fought the disease, is currently fighting, or, maybe you are in the middle of your own fight. 

Together as a team here at Sweetums, we chose to move! We wanted to impact residents close to home and support those in our local and area communities, so we are teaming up with FACT for a cool project this month! FACT is a local organization that was established to provide direct financial assistance to Seneca County residents who have been diagnosed with cancer. To support their efforts, we created a design that can be featured on a t-shirt or decal sticker, and all proceeds from sales made will go back to the organization to help carry out their mission!
